This is my favorite time of the year at Shady Oaks Baptist Church! Just last night a team of volunteers boxed up and shipped 603 Operation Christmas Child boxes! Wow! I’m so thankful for how God worked through our church to accomplish this!
Also, last night I had the privilege of sitting with two wonderful couples to conclude our Discover Shady Oaks class. These families will be joining our church soon, and I look forward to what God is going to do in the year to come!
It’s the week before Thanksgiving, and this Sunday we will conclude our sermon series in Psalms with an expositional sermon from Psalm 100. Pray for the Lord to bless and move.
Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth!
2 Serve the Lord with gladness!
Come into his presence with singing!
3 Know that the Lord, he is God!
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving,
and his courts with praise!
Give thanks to him; bless his name!
5 For the Lord is good;
his steadfast love endures forever,
and his faithfulness to all generations.
Monday, November 21 from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m., our church will be hosting “Surviving the Holidays” for a night of learning and encouragement. If you or someone you know who through death or divorce/separation is struggling this holiday season, invite them and join us on this one night session led by Julie Moore. This can be a time of hope and help.
Beginning Sunday, November 27 is the first Sunday of Advent. You can download our Advent Guide to use with your family. I love this day because when we arrive to the church all the Christmas decorations will be adorning our halls with the colors of Christmas. We will fill our sanctuary with the bells of Christmas, wonderful Christmas carols to sing, and hear our Celebration Choir worship our Savior Jesus Christ with festive anthems. I will be doing an expositional sermon series through Luke 1 & 2 called Christmas According to Dr. Luke. It’s a great time to INVITE your family and friends to attend Shady Oaks Baptist Church.
This will be fun for the kids! Shady Oaks Baptist Church is hosting a “Breakfast with Santa” event on Saturday, December 3rd from 9-12. It’s only $5 per kid and they will get breakfast, a picture with Santa, and have lots of fun! You can drop off your children, and go do some Christmas shopping, or take a long-winters nap! But be back by noon! You can Register HERE! Deadline to register is November 27!
On Wednesday, December 14, Shady Oaks Baptist will share the Joy of Christmas with hundreds of deserving children and their families in our community by partnering with 6 Stones for Night of Hope. To volunteer, you can sign up at Information Central on Sunday mornings. There will be a training session on Sunday, December 11 from 12:00 – 12:30 p.m.
In closing, during the month of December we will have the opportunity to give each Sunday to our First Gift of Christmas Offering! This is a special offering that we take up each Christmas season in hopes to give our first gift of Christmas to Jesus. This year we have set a goal of $30,000 to go toward an outdoor playground for our Children’s Ministry.
Pray for our teams that serve, but more importantly, pray for all the people that will attend our church during this season. Many need encouragement, but hundreds need Jesus Christ in their life. Pray also for our pastors who will be sharing God’s Word.
See You Sunday at Shady Oaks Baptist Church!
